Indicator 6. Protocol gifts are to become public property upon receiving and registering. This applies to all kinds of protocol gifs due to possible misuse
Keeping received and accepted gifts by public officials themselves may lead to the abuse, since the public officials would be motivated to demand gifts for their discharge of public office. Also, with gifts becoming public property, they are easier to track and prevent their misuse.
Summary
Destiny of protocol gifts in some of the analyzed countries depends whether they belong to the state or the public institution where the public official performs his duties. On the other hand, the rest of the countries either do not have any rules on the destiny of the gifts after being received or they intrdouce certain standards which could be misinterpreted.
