The obligation to declare all received and rejected gifts is important as a mean for transparency and control in order to avoid conflict of interest and corruption. It also serves as a tool of raising awareness of the undue influence coming from accepting gifts in relation to the exercise of public duty.


All the analyzed countries have legal regulation regarding the duty to report offered, received and rejected gifts, with differences in the sources of relevant provisions and level of their generality and precision, respectively
